IndianNation

When Columbus landed in the Americas in 1492, there were 12 to 15 million Native Americans in the territory that today comprises the United States. By 1900, there were only 237,000. The Native population had reached its nadir. IndianNation allows users to upload photos, share stories, and write the histories of these survivors, men and women whose ancestors had somehow endured epidemics, Indian Wars, forced relocation, and repeated attempts at acculturation. Today's Native Americans are all descendents of these relatively few survivors. This website collects their stories.
